Photogrammetry is based on the intersection of two or more light rays which are used to define a point in object space. Correct reconstruction of camera geometry and lens distortion parameters is necessary for good results.

Camera resolution is also important – a higher resolution will provide increased precision. For example, using a 12 Mp camera from a flying height of 300 m will give a ground resolution of better than 6 cm (note this is not the same as accuracy, which is project dependent).
